Designed for busy primary schools, our comprehensive 10-lesson Bullying Prevention Program provides everything educators need to confidently deliver engaging, meaningful lessons that make a lasting difference.
With one lesson per week, children develop the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to recognise bullying, respond safely, support others, and build respectful relationships. MODULE 1
Introduction to Bullying
Students learn to identify the characteristics of bullying, understand the impact it has on others, and recognise the difference between bullying, conflict, and unkind behaviour. The module encourages respectful discussion and helps lay the foundation for a positive school culture.
MODULE 2
Understanding Bullying Behaviour
This module helps students understand why bullying happens, recognise the different forms it can take, and explore its impact on individuals and the wider school community. Through discussion, reflection, and interactive learning, students build empathy, develop respectful relationship skills, and gain a greater understanding of positive behaviour.
MODULE 3
Strategies for Responding to Bullying
This module equips students with practical, age-appropriate strategies for responding to bullying safely and confidently. Children learn how to develop personal safety plans, use assertive communication, seek support from trusted adults, and take positive action when they experience or witness bullying.
MODEULE 4
Creating Positive Change
This module encourages students to reflect on the choices they make and the positive influence they can have on those around them. Through engaging activities and guided discussions, children explore the importance of kindness, respect, empathy, and personal responsibility while learning how their actions contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school community.

I am Sensei Shane ...
For more than 20 years, I've had the privilege of working with children through martial arts, helping them build confidence, resilience, respect, and the life skills they need to thrive.As a father of five and a grandfather, I understand the important role we all play in shaping the next generation and giving children the tools they need to navigate life's challenges.
My passion for this work comes from personal experience. I was bullied as a child and continued to experience bullying into adulthood. I know what it's like to lack confidence, feel unsupported, and not know where to turn for help.Â
Making a Lasting Impact
Those experiences inspired me to ensure today's children have the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills I wish I'd had growing up. Today, a significant part of my work is helping schools prevent bullying before it becomes a bigger problem. Through practical, engaging programs, I empower children to stand up for themselves, support others, and help create school communities built on kindness, respect, and inclusion.
After seeing the positive impact these programs had in New Zealand primary schools, we developed Empowering Kids Australia to make these proven resources available to Australian schools.

Schools can easily deliver the program to multiple groups throughout the year. For example, by running the program with three groups of 15–25 students each term, a single school could reach up to 300 students in the first year alone.
